Seth, the third son born to Adam & Eve, is the son of promise, a substitute for his slain brother Abel. Seth is the architect of a godly, worshipping community. Genesis 5 functions as a bridge text to introduce us to Seth's preeminent son Noah, in whom the Sethite ancestors' hope rests, as they collectively languish under the weighty effects of the Eden curse.
